Some people ask me how big does an organization need to be or what type of organization should have a strategic plan.

My very biased answer is that ALL organizations should have a strategic plan.

Even for my small business, I have a strategic plan capturing STB Consulting’s  vision, mission, values, goals, objectives, and initiatives that guide the work of my consulting practice over a three-year period. I ensure that I am executing on that strategy by monitoring my progress against the defined goals and keeping my strategic initiative progress top of mind. Strategic initiatives are the programs, projects, and activities that are taken on in order to accomplish your goals. That said, strategy execution is project management in action!
